Taller Athletes
The NBA has done a great job of marketing their
sport. So great in fact, that being tall and playing basketball
are now synonymous in the minds of many. We hope to off-set this
trend with The Height Site's sports section.

Snowboarding with big feet
If you're a snowboarder with big feet and are facing the dreaded
toe drag (when your toes hang too far over the edge of your snowboard
and catch in the snow) Kari
Egan, from About.com recomends three things you can do:
Wide Board
Look for a wide snowboard. Many manufacturers make wide snowboards
specifically for those with big feet.
Re-do Your Bindings
Angle your bindings a little more so your foot has a longer span
across the snowboard.
Buy "Risers"
Risers mount under your bindings to give your feet more clearance
between your toes and the snow.
Basketball Items Sent In
Fast paced and exciting, basketball is a captivating sport. While
we don't have the resources to cover it in depth, here are a few
items sent in by Height Site visitors just like you:
Big Man Camp
This
group represents college basketball's best and brightest.
They get together each summer to brush up on skills and some even
get into the NBA.
The Big-Big Men
Former Bucks center Dan Schayes is claims
to bei the only person in the NBA to have faced every player in
the league who stands 7 feet 4 inches or taller. That includes
Houston rookie Yao Ming, whom Schayes played against during an
exhibition tour before the 2000 Olympics.
Schayes, who stands 6-11, had also knocked heads with every one
of the tallest men to ever play in the league: 7-7 Manute Bol,
7-7 Gheorghe Muresan, 7-6 Shawn Bradley, 7-5 Chuck Nevitt, 7-4
Mark Eaton, 7-4 Priest Lauderdale, 7-4 Ralph Sampson and 7-4 Rik
Smits.
Of Yao, Schayes said, "From what I've seen, he probably
has the most unlimited potential, the greatest up side of any
of the big, big men. There's nothing more intriguing and mysterious
than height."
NBA is 95% Straight
We live in a post-modern age where heroism is dead, and, thankfully,
the romantic delusion of superstar athletes also leading Leave
It To Beaver lives away from the field have been dragged away
with it. We are more than willing to give law-breakers chances
to infinity to redeem themselves, so an athlete who calls a press
conference to announce they take up the very legal activity of
engaging in homosexual activities should be a welcome relief.
Instead, it's produced a
flurry of controversy about Orlando Magic guard Tracy McGrady's
interview with Stuff Magazine for it's November issue.
If an athlete wants to make his or her private life public, that's
their perogative, and it shouldn't affect how we view their accomplishments
on the field.
