Nissan
Murano
The Height Site put together a group of four
really tall drivers to tour the San Francisco Auto Show. After trying
about fifty different vehicles, our 6ft11 Driver picked the Nissan
Murano.
MSRP Range:
$28,199 - $30,599
The 2004 Murano SE AWD that HS Testers examined
was a 4-door, 5-passenger sport-utility.
Tallest Estimated Drivers
Proportioned: 6ft5 definately, 6ft7 maybe...
further testing required to guage fit for taller drivers.
Long Torso: 6ft5 definately, 6ft7 maybe... further testing
required to guage fit for taller drivers.
Long Legs: 37in inseam definately, maybe more... further
testing required to guage fit for taller drivers.
Height Site Team Comments
6ft5 = I fit OK, this car would work well
for me.
6ft7 = The passenger seat is a couple of inches forward compared
to this one, so it's not clear about how far back the driver's seat
goes.
6ft11 = I love the layout of the instrument panel, I'll have
to check out a different model to guage a proper fit, but this is
the most promising vehicle I've seen all day and I'm excited about
it.
2004 Murano's Closest Competitors
The Volkswagen Touareg (HS TESTERS = Slope
makes driving impossible for 6ft11 tester. The 6ft7 tester felt
he hunched down too much to see and couldn't drive it long distances).
The Buick Rainier (HS TESTERS = Couldn't
evaluate because no power to move the seats)
The GMC Yukon Denali (HS TESTERS = Couldn't
evaluate because no power to move the seats)
The SE AWD is equipped with a standard 3.5-liter,
V6, 245-horsepower engine that achieves 20-mpg in the city and 24-mpg
on the highway. A variable speed automatic transmission with overdrive
is standard on all versions of this vehicle.
PLEASE NOTE: The Murano is new and attractive;
so many Nissan dealers likely will order the top-line version with
many accessories for more profit. That's just the nature of the
car (and sport-utility) business. For a better fit, Taller drivers
may have to shop around for a dealer with a stripped down version
sans sunroof/power seats.
