Toyota
Matrix
The Height Site put together a group of four
really tall drivers to tour the San Francisco Auto Show. After trying
about fifty different vehicles, our 6ft4 Driver picked the Toyota
Matrix.
MSRP Range:
$14,670 - $18,750
The 2004 Matrix that Height Site Testers examined
was a 4-door, 5-passenger XR 2WD wagon.
Tallest Estimated Drivers
Proportioned: 6ft7 maybe; depends on width
of driver
Long Torso: 6ft8 maybe; depends on legroom required.
Long Legs: 36in inseam definately, up to a 38in or 40in inseam
possible; depends on torso length.
Height Site Team Comments
6ft5 = Love the mirror placement, I can
see more of the road in front of me.
6ft7 = Comfy and I love the gear shift on the dash instead
of having a center console.
6ft11 = It's way too cramped for me to seriously consider
ever driving it.
2004 Matrix's Closest Competitors
The Chevrolet Aveo (HS TESTERS = Might
be an affordable option for a budget minded tall guy. 6ft7 tester
said headroom is doable but not ideal. 6ft5 tester said the center
console was an issue.) PLEASE NOTE: the over exposed engine has
no protection on the underside and two of our testers think the
oil pan seems vulnerable to road debris. If you're serious about
this vehicle, get the opinions of several professional mechanics
before you make your purchase.
The Saturn L-Series Wagon (HS TESTERS =
Couldn't evaluate because no power to move the seats)
The Volkswagen Jetta Wagon (HS TESTERS
= Pedals are too close together to safely accommodate drivers with
a men's shoe size of US-13 or larger).
